Systems we've designed and built
From rugged field carts to multi-channel array controllers and the software that drives them: a look at the ground-penetrating radar hardware and tools engineered at Norse Radar.
Radar, end to end
Every system below was researched, designed, manufactured and tested in-house: hardware, antennas, controllers and software working as one.

Norse GPR cart
The Norse GPR cart was developed to enable a rugged platform to maneuver GPR systems in the frequency range 200-1200 MHz. The trolley consists of multiple sections bolted together to form a generic GPR platform. Weight is minimised without compromising strength and reliability. The handles are adjustable in height and can be collapsed to reduce the cart's size for transportation. The cart is complete with a tablet computer mount of choice and high level, supported GPS pole. The generic design of the trolley allows for 1-4 encoder wheels enabling position estimation robustness and improved position reliability and accuracy in cases where GPS or total station is unavailable.

Ruggedised single and multi-channel GPR systems
We aim to provide single and multi-channel case GPR solutions. Those systems are complete within a rugged single case and interface to a PC, laptop or tablet device via IP66 rated USB interface for data display and collection. The design enables the GPR to hang from the Norse GPR cart or be pulled separately. The system is both waterproof and rugged with only a small switch panel for operation. Due to the design of our latest hardware, the requirement of an internal power source is also optional.

Research, design and development of bespoke GPR systems
We are able to research, design and develop complete GPR solutions and associated software to extract, display and collect data. We have participated in a number of bespoke projects for novel applications providing our customers with initial concept solutions through to fully manufactured end products. Norse has a wide range of high quality test and development resource to tackle the challenges in developing GPR systems.

Antenna modelling, design and analysis
We model, designed and tested a range of antennas for both single channel and multi-channel array GPR systems. Those cover frequencies from less than 40 MHz to over 1 GHz. We also develop and configure controller, cabling and mounting solutions for our single and multi-channel array systems. We are currently working on the development of a number of novel array GPR systems and have chamber facilities available to fully test our designs.

Norse Data Collection Software
NorseView is our GPR data collection software developed with consideration of the requirements of modern GPR systems. The software operates on multiple platforms (Apple / Android / Windows machines) and is used primarily to control the GPR system and collect data on a PC, laptop or tablet device. During survey, GPR data is displayed real-time allowing the user to view specific positions of interest. Our systems collect maximum data and allow for post processing to remove unwanted samples. All data is recorded in a ‘Norse’ file (.nrs) with time stamping allowing maximum post processing ability and correction for position error. Our GPR cart provides position data via 1-4 encoder wheels, alternately, other positioning systems can be directly interfaced via USB. Position information may be saved directly in the generated Norse data file for post processing. NorseView is continually being updated and improved to meet the demands of the latest GPR system requirements.

Single and Multi-channel Array GPR controllers
We manufacture GPR controllers for a wide range of applications, both single and multi-channel. Our controllers operate via USB and can be powered either entirely by USB or by the internal battery source. We aim to manufacture small physical size solutions which are compact and lightweight but also robust for the challenging environments GPR systems face. We have a range of options from 1-16 channels, 1GHz and 8 GHz bandwidth, fully-digital controllers. Our portfolio also includes prototypes for single channel monostatic designs with credit card size and less than 28g weight. We are also available to discuss configuration, design and development for bespoke requirements.
